Sick Care vs. Well Care

The healthcare system is very good at treating disease once it appears. It is not built to help you stay well, catch problems early, or close the gap between how long you live and how many of those years you feel good. A typical visit runs ten minutes. That’s enough time to address an acute problem. It is not enough time to understand a person.

At D5 Health, our provider sees a small number of patients each day, with visits that run an hour to ninety minutes. That time is what makes the rest of this possible.

What We Test and Why

Standard annual labs are a starting point, not a finish line. Depending on your goals and history, our evaluation can include advanced lipid and cardiovascular risk markers such as Lp(a) and ApoB, fasting insulin and metabolic markers, a full hormone panel, body composition analysis, and nutrient and inflammatory markers, along with additional targeted testing based on your symptoms and history.

We review results with you in plain language, in context, not just as a pass or fail against a lab reference range.

The Basics Still Matter Most

Advanced testing and targeted treatment get the attention, but the foundation of every plan we build is the same handful of unglamorous levers: consistent sleep and wake times, morning light exposure, regular movement and strength training, whole-food nutrition, and stress and social connection. We won’t skip past these to get to something more exciting. They are usually the biggest lever available, and we’ll say so plainly even when it’s not the answer someone was hoping for.

How Membership Works

D5 Health operates as a membership-based, direct-access practice. Membership includes extended visits with your care team, direct communication access between visits, individualized testing and a plan built around your results, and ongoing monitoring and adjustment over time. Because we operate outside of insurance, visit time is not dictated by a billing code. We believe that’s what should have been possible in medicine all along.

Who This Is For

D5 Health is for adults who want to understand what’s happening in their body before something becomes a diagnosis, get real time with a provider instead of a ten-minute visit, build a plan from their own data rather than a generic checklist, and work with a physician-led team on a long-term health strategy, not a single visit. This is educational information about our approach to care, not individual medical advice. A personalized plan can only be developed after a full evaluation with our clinical team.
